Food for Life is an award-winning nutrition education and cooking class program that provides an innovative approach to diet-related chronic diseases. Designed by a team of physicians, nurses, and dietitians, of the Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine, the Food for Life program promotes healthful , eating based on the latest scientific research.
Each Food for Life class includes:
Detailed information about how certain foods and nutrients work to promote or discourage disease.
Cooking demonstrations of delicious healthful recipes.
Practical cooking skills and tips for incorporating healthful eating habits into daily life.
Classes includes video, hand-outs, food samples (for in-person classes), and discussion, all in a supportive, motivational atmosphere to support participants on their wellness journey.

Cost: $35 guest // FREE for BARN members In honor of Breast Cancer awareness month, join plant based chef and Food for Life instructor Nancy Travis as we explore the power of food to regulate our hormones. Certain cancers are significantly affected by hormones: breast, uterine, and ovarian cancer in women and prostate and testicular cancer in men. In this class we will look at the latest research from the book “Your Body in Balance” by Dr Neal Barnard published in 2020 examining the role certain foods play in possibly reducing the risk for cancer and help enhance survival for those who have been diagnosed. This class will include a video, quiz, cooking demo, recipes, handout on food choices for cancer survival, as well as lots of tips and tricks for plant-based eating from Nancy.
